Penn Therapy & Fitness offers physical therapy residencies in orthopedics and women’s health. The two 50+-week residencies begin in September and are based out of University City in Philadelphia, PA. Both residencies feature 35 hours of work training, plus 10 hours of mentorship per week. Residency candidates will have the opportunity for mentorship from a variety of therapists with diverse backgrounds and experience in orthopedics and women’s health.
Currently there are only 244 accredited programs in the United States. Our Women’s Health Residency Program is only the ninth such program in the entire nation to meet the high accreditation standards, with our Orthopaedic Residency Program one out of 102 such programs! Residency candidates will have the opportunity for mentorship from a variety of therapists with diverse backgrounds and experience in orthopedics and women’s health.
Our staff is dedicated to helping students have a productive and beneficial clinical education experience. The philosophy towards clinical education is based on the premise that there is mutual responsibility on the part of the following: student, school, Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE), Center Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCCE) and therapy staff. All of these individuals, in concert with one another, work to provide an open environment for learning.
All members of the staff play a part in the preparation and execution of the clinical education program. Our participation in the education of future therapists is a professional responsibility that we truly enjoy! It is the responsibility of the student, as an adult learner, to take advantage of the variety of learning experiences available and actively participate in the program. The student must function as an active learner and take responsibility for communicating his or her needs so that the Clinical/Fieldwork Instructor (CI/FI) and Center Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCCE) can provide the type of experience needed to fulfill individual goals and objectives.
