The Brain Injury Recovery Center at Penn Medicine Rehabilitation offers a group of services designed to help restore the highest possible mental and physical function after a brain injury. Brain injuries are complex conditions that require a team to assess, understand and treat. We work to restore cognitive function and reduce or eliminate disabilities using a multidisciplinary approach to care.
Who Can Benefit From Our Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program
Our patients come from all walks of life and may have experienced a traumatic brain injury, post-neurosurgery brain injury (tumor, aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation), or an injury due to lack of oxygen or other neurological conditions.
Our brain injury program focuses on comprehensive medical, nursing and therapy care to help patients recover from conditions such as:
- Stroke
- Cerebral hemorrhage
- Traumatic brain injury
- Spontaneous hemorrhage
- Brain tumor
- Anoxic encephalopathy
- Concussion
- Contusion
“[The therapists] brought me back from the state of a baby. I wasn’t able to talk. I wasn’t able to walk or anything. Then out of nowhere, I was able to walk and talk — so it was just magic before my eyes.”
– Erik Simmons, Former Patient
