PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Oct. 22, 2024) — The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has awarded a 3-year reaccreditation to Penn Medicine Rehabilitation, an inpatient unit of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, for five inpatient rehab specialty programs.

CARF — an independent, nonprofit organization — is considered the gold standard in awarding accreditation to rehabilitation facilities that demonstrate a high level of performance, accountability and adherence to rigorous standards. During a thorough and detailed evaluation in summer 2024, CARF representatives evaluated all aspects of the 58-bed Penn Medicine Rehabilitation against 2,500 total operations and quality standards.

“We are honored to receive CARF reaccreditation,” said Executive Director Jessica Cooper. “This achievement underscores our unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of care and ensuring that our patients receive comprehensive, evidence-based treatment in a safe and supportive environment.”

Based on the findings, CARF has re-accredited Penn Medicine Rehabilitation for the following programs:

“CARF accreditation is a voluntary process, and this rigorous peer review process assures our patients, their families and the community that they are receiving the best possible care,” Cooper said.
